WNBA star Sophie Cunningham reunited with Sadie Robertson at a DWTS taping, leaving fans thrilled by the unexpected celebrity pairing.
Sophie Cunningham has sent fans into a frenzy after enjoying a backstage reunion with Dancing with the Stars favorite Sadie Robertson.
The Indiana Fever guard, 30, was all smiles as she posed alongside the former reality television star inside the ballroom of the popular dance competition.
Robertson shared a collection of behind-the-scenes photographs on Instagram on Wednesday night, giving followers a glimpse of her return to the show.
Among the snaps was a picture of the two women together, prompting an enthusiastic response from fans who were thrilled to see the unexpected pairing.
Cunningham was quick to make her presence felt in the comments section, responding to Robertson’s post with a sweet message.
“The sweetest ❤️,” the basketball star wrote.
Her comment quickly caught the attention of followers, many of whom flooded the post with messages celebrating the two personalities.
“My two favorites in one post nooo way @legitsadierob @sophie_cham,” one fan exclaimed.
“Sadie & Sophie?! Iconic ❤️,” another commented.
A third fan added: “@legitsadierob + @sophie_cham, the duo we never knew we needed.”
The reaction showed just how excited fans were to see the WNBA star and the former Duck Dynasty personality together.
Robertson also appeared delighted to be back in the ballroom, where she made a memorable impression during her own time on the competition.
The television personality competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2014, when she was paired with professional dancer Mark Ballas.
The duo enjoyed an impressive run and ultimately finished as runners-up, narrowly missing out on the Mirrorball Trophy.
More than a decade later, Robertson’s return to the ballroom gave her an opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and cheer on former friends.
She reflected on the visit in her Instagram caption, writing: “So good to be back in the ballroom with so many special people! 🪩🤍”
She added: “Always a good time cheering on old friends and meeting new ones!!!”
While Robertson’s appearance was a nostalgic moment for longtime DWTS viewers, Cunningham’s presence added an unexpected sporting twist to the evening.
The basketball star is currently enjoying her offseason after the Indiana Fever’s playoff campaign came to an early end.
Rather than keeping a low profile during the break, Cunningham has been making appearances at high-profile events and enjoying opportunities away from the basketball court.
Last weekend, she attracted plenty of attention at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Texas.
The Fever guard was given the honor of waving the checkered flag at the event, putting her at the center of the action as the race reached its conclusion.
She also made a fashion statement with a glamorous cowgirl-inspired outfit that quickly became a talking point among fans.
Her appearance prompted enthusiastic reactions on social media, with some supporters praising her look and describing her as “America’s treasure.”
The F1 appearance was another example of Cunningham’s growing visibility beyond the WNBA.
The 30-year-old has developed a strong following through her basketball career, outspoken personality and regular appearances at sporting and entertainment events.
Her offseason activities have also included fashion-related opportunities, giving her a chance to explore interests outside professional basketball.
However, while Cunningham appears to be making the most of her time away from the court, questions remain about where she will play next season.
The guard is approaching unrestricted free agency, leaving her professional future uncertain as the offseason continues.
Cunningham signed a one-year extension with Indiana late in the offseason ahead of the campaign.
So far, there has been no confirmed announcement about whether the Fever plan to offer her another contract.
Her situation will be one to watch as Indiana considers its roster plans following another eventful season.
Cunningham has also become one of the league’s more talked-about personalities, attracting attention for both her performances and the discussions surrounding her comments away from basketball.
Whatever happens with her playing career, her growing profile could create further opportunities in entertainment, fashion and other areas outside the WNBA.
For now, the basketball star seems determined to enjoy her break, whether she is attending a major motorsport event or catching up with familiar faces from television.
And if the reaction to Robertson’s Instagram post is anything to go by, fans are more than happy to see Cunningham mixing with some of their favorite entertainment personalities.
