Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez Reportedly Choose Special Wedding Location in Madeira After 2026 World Cup
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are reportedly preparing for one of the most anticipated celebrity weddings in recent years, with Portuguese media claiming the couple have chosen a deeply meaningful location to exchange vows.

According to reputable regional outlet Jornal da Madeira, the football legend and his fiancée plan to marry in a Christian ceremony next summer, following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The ceremony is expected to take place at the historic Funchal Cathedral, located in the heart of Madeira’s capital city.
The iconic venue holds profound personal significance for Ronaldo, who was born on the island and has remained closely connected to his home throughout his global career.
The cathedral itself is situated just 1.5 miles from Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, where the athlete was born, and approximately three miles from the grounds of Nacional da Madeira, the youth club where he began his journey to becoming one of the world’s greatest footballers.
Following the ceremony, the reception will reportedly be hosted at a luxury hotel on the island, providing an intimate and elegant setting befitting one of sport’s most famous couples.
Neither Ronaldo nor Rodríguez has publicly commented on the reported plans, and representatives for the couple have not yet issued a statement.

Ronaldo, 40, and Rodríguez, 30, confirmed their engagement in August, marking a new milestone in their nine-year relationship.
The couple first met in 2016, when Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid, and have since built both a family and a life together that has played out in the public eye.
The footballer recently spoke about his proposal during an emotional interview with Piers Morgan, describing the moment as spontaneous, heartfelt, and far from extravagant despite involving a £1.5 million engagement ring.
“It was like 1am. My daughters were asleep,” Ronaldo recalled. “One of my friends gave me the ring and, as I was giving it to Gio, my kids came in and said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to Mum and ask her to marry you.’ I said, ‘Wow, this is the right moment.’”
He added that the moment was unplanned, and he did not kneel due to the spontaneity of the situation, but insisted it was “beautiful and sincere.”
“I’m not a very romantic guy in the traditional way, but I’m romantic in my own way. I knew she was the woman of my life.”
Family at the Heart of Their Journey
Ronaldo is father to five children. He and Georgina share daughters Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda, while Cristiano Jr. was born in 2010. Twins Eva and Mateo were welcomed via surrogacy in 2017.

In April 2022, the family experienced profound tragedy when their newborn son, Ángel, passed away.
The couple have since spoken candidly about how they supported one another through grief, with Ronaldo explaining that the heartbreaking loss strengthened their bond.
“We always support each other,” he said. “Even in the worst moments, you have to meet and make things smooth. We consolidated our relationship more during that time.”
Looking Ahead to a Personal and Private Celebration
Ronaldo revealed that while he once envisioned a grand celebration, Georgina prefers a more intimate affair. The couple reportedly hope to celebrate their marriage after the Portugal national team competes in the 2026 World Cup.
“She doesn’t like big parties, and I respect that,” Ronaldo shared. “We plan to do it after the World Cup—with the trophy.”
With the reported venue steeped in personal history and emotional symbolism, anticipation continues to grow among fans worldwide. While final details are yet to be confirmed, the wedding is expected to draw major global attention.
