Mikayla Demaiter, the former Canadian ice hockey goaltender turned model, has once again captured attention online after sharing a new professional photoshoot with her millions of followers.
The 25-year-old, who previously played as a goaltender for the Bluewater Hawks in Canada’s Women’s Hockey League, has built a substantial digital presence since stepping away from competitive sport.
Her latest images, shared on Instagram, quickly sparked widespread engagement, with fans praising both her confidence and her successful transition into a new career.
Demaiter rose to prominence in the sports world at a young age, earning recognition for her performances between the posts before her hockey career was cut short due to injury.
At just 19, she made the difficult decision to retire from the sport she had trained for throughout her childhood and teenage years.
After leaving hockey, Demaiter redirected her focus toward modeling and content creation.
What began as a new opportunity quickly evolved into a full-time career, with her social media following growing rapidly across multiple platforms.
Today, she boasts nearly six million followers combined, making her one of the most recognizable former athletes to successfully rebrand in the digital space.
Her content often blends professional photoshoots with behind-the-scenes moments, offering fans insight into her life after sport.
In her most recent post, Demaiter shared images from a styled shoot set in a modern indoor location.
The photographs highlighted her fashion-forward approach and polished presentation, reflecting the professional direction her modeling career has taken in recent years.
Captioning the post, she wrote: “My New Year’s resolution? To keep giving you something beautiful to look at,” a light-hearted message that resonated strongly with her audience.
The response from followers was immediate. Thousands of comments poured in, many applauding her confidence, work ethic, and ability to reinvent herself after an early setback in professional sport.
One fan described her as “a standout presence online,” while another praised her for “turning a challenging situation into an inspiring success story.”
Others highlighted her hockey background, noting how her discipline and determination continue to show through in her current career.
While Demaiter is often discussed for her strong online presence, her story also reflects a broader narrative familiar to many athletes — adapting to life after sport and finding new paths forward when circumstances change unexpectedly.
When Demaiter announced her retirement from hockey, she shared an emotional open letter reflecting on what the sport had given her.
In the message, she acknowledged both the opportunities and the challenges that came with competitive athletics.
“It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life,” she wrote at the time. “For now, hockey will not be my number one focus.
I want to thank you for all the places we’ve gone together and all the people you’ve introduced me to.”
She also credited her family for their support throughout her career, noting that their encouragement played a key role in helping her navigate such a major life change at a young age.
Demaiter’s latest photos mark a confident start to 2026 following a year of continued growth online.
Her expanding reach has led to collaborations, modeling opportunities, and increased visibility beyond the sports world.
Industry observers often point to her success as an example of how former athletes can leverage personal branding, social media, and audience engagement to build sustainable careers after retirement.
Despite no longer playing hockey professionally, Demaiter has remained connected to her roots, frequently acknowledging the lessons she learned from sport — including resilience, focus, and adaptability.
As she continues to develop her modeling career, Demaiter shows no signs of slowing down.
With a loyal fan base and a clear sense of direction, she remains one of the most talked-about former athletes on social media today.
Her journey underscores the importance of reinvention and the value of embracing new opportunities when life takes an unexpected turn — a message that resonates well beyond the worlds of sport and entertainment.
