Japanese swimsuit model and actress Aoi Fujino has died at the age of 27, just days after sharing an emotional farewell message with her fans and announcing her retirement from public life.
The news of her passing has sparked an outpouring of grief across social media, where supporters have been reflecting on her career, resilience, and final words.

Aoi, who had built a strong following in Japan’s entertainment and modeling industry, confirmed on December 31 that she would be stepping away from her career.
In what would later be recognized as her final public message, she addressed her fans directly in a heartfelt post that many now see as deeply poignant.
“This is my last message to all Aoi Fujino fans,” she wrote. “I really loved you. Thank you so much for everything up until now. Please remember me once in a while.”
Just five days later, on January 5, Aoi’s mother confirmed her death in a public statement, revealing that her daughter had been battling an illness.

While the family did not initially provide extensive medical details, it has since been widely reported that Aoi had been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of malignant cancer, approximately three years ago.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported and cared for her during her lifetime,” her mother wrote. “She passed away on January 5.”
Originally from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, Aoi Fujino rose to prominence as a swimsuit model and actress, earning recognition in Japanese media and developing a devoted fanbase.
She was often described as an idol figure, admired not only for her work but also for her upbeat personality and close engagement with supporters.

At the height of her popularity, Aoi appeared on a 2022 list of the Top 100 big-breasted actresses in Japanese entertainment media, a ranking that reflected her visibility and success within the industry at the time.
However, her career trajectory shifted dramatically following her cancer diagnosis.
After learning of her illness, Aoi made the difficult decision to suspend her career in order to focus on treatment. Friends and fans alike praised her for being open about her health struggles while maintaining a positive outlook.
In August 2024, Aoi returned to work for a short period, taking part in select modeling projects and fan events.
The comeback was welcomed warmly by supporters, many of whom expressed admiration for her strength. Unfortunately, ongoing health complications forced her to step back once again less than six months later.

Throughout 2025, she made limited public appearances, including a handful of photoshoots and meet-and-greet events.
Despite her declining health, she remained active on social media, where she continued to communicate directly with her followers.
In one of her final posts, shared with more than 70,000 Instagram followers, Aoi reflected on how she wished to be remembered.
“As long as people remember that beautiful and energetic me,” she wrote, “I will be very happy and feel extremely blessed.”

Following confirmation of her death, tributes quickly flooded social platforms. Fans from Japan and around the world shared messages of condolence, remembrance, and gratitude for the joy Aoi brought through her work.
“How very sad. Fans will never forget her,” one supporter wrote.
“May her soul rest in peace,” another added.
Others praised her resilience and character, with one message reading: “She was loved by everyone and is a proud daughter to her mother.”

Several fans highlighted her young age, expressing heartbreak that her life was cut short. “You fought hard until the very end,” one tribute said. “Rest easy.”
Aoi Fujino’s passing at just 27 serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the unseen struggles public figures can face behind the scenes.
While her career was relatively brief, her impact on fans and her openness about illness left a lasting impression.
Her final request — to be remembered — is now being fulfilled by thousands who continue to share her story, celebrate her work, and honor her courage.
