Landry Kiffin joked about her outfit after her father Lane Kiffin suffered a 32-24 LSU loss to his former team Ole Miss in a heated return.
Landry Kiffin found a lighthearted silver lining after watching her father, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, suffer a painful defeat against his former team Ole Miss on Saturday night.
Kiffin was in attendance at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford for one of the most anticipated games of the weekend, as Lane made his first return to his former home since leaving Ole Miss.
The highly emotional reunion did not go according to plan for the LSU coach.
Ole Miss defended its home field and secured a 32-24 victory over LSU, handing Lane Kiffin a difficult result in his return to the program where he spent six seasons.
While the outcome was disappointing for the Kiffin family, Landry appeared to find at least one positive from the evening.
The 21-year-old Ole Miss student took to Instagram the following morning and shared several photos from her night at the game.
Alongside the pictures, she joked about the one thing that went right for her.
“Well at least the outfit was good,” Landry wrote.
The comment quickly captured attention as she showed off the outfit she had selected for the highly anticipated matchup.
Landry wore a striking yellow Prada dress with matching yellow heels from the luxury fashion house.
She completed the look with black sunglasses, creating a coordinated appearance as she watched LSU take on Ole Miss on the Rebels’ home turf.
Her Instagram post also included behind-the-scenes moments from her preparations for the game.
In some of the photos, Landry could be seen getting ready with curlers in her hair before heading to the stadium.
She also shared a pregame moment involving dating app Bumble as she prepared for the rivalry matchup.
The fashion-focused post drew a response from another well-known sports personality. Livvy Dunne, the former LSU gymnast and girlfriend of Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes, joined the conversation in the comments.
“The fit won,” Dunne wrote.
The exchange provided a lighter moment after what had been a difficult night for LSU and Lane Kiffin.
Saturday’s game was already carrying plenty of emotional weight because of Lane’s history with Ole Miss.
He spent six seasons leading the Rebels before leaving the program in November for the LSU job.
His departure also saw six assistant coaches and several players follow him to Baton Rouge. Lane agreed to a seven-year contract with LSU reportedly worth $13 million annually.
That history made his return to Oxford particularly significant, with the game receiving considerable attention before kickoff.
The attention surrounding Lane’s return also extended to his family, with Landry becoming part of the pregame storyline.
Earlier in the week, Landry had addressed what she described as inappropriate messages and taunts connected to her father’s return to Ole Miss.
The founder of clothing brand Fifth Year posted a TikTok video after receiving photos of banners displayed around Oxford.
She said the banners contained inappropriate references involving her and a person she said she had never met.
Landry expressed frustration that she had been brought into the rivalry through what she described as sexual jokes connected to someone she was related to.
“I am my own person,” she said in the video, while acknowledging that emotions were running high ahead of the game.
Landry is also connected to LSU through her relationship with Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks.
Her presence at the game therefore placed her in an unusual position, attending as an Ole Miss student while supporting her father and LSU.
Despite all the attention surrounding the rivalry, the game ultimately came down to a dramatic late sequence.
LSU had an opportunity to make things extremely interesting late in the fourth quarter. The Tigers trailed by a touchdown and needed a two-point conversion to force a tie.
However, LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt’s fourth-down pass was intercepted at Mississippi’s six-yard line, ending the Tigers’ attempt to mount a comeback.
The result visibly affected Lane Kiffin. The LSU coach dropped to his knees following the decisive play as Ole Miss moved closer to completing its revenge victory.
The loss leaves LSU with a 2-1 record following the opening stretch of the season, while Ole Miss improved to 3-0.
For Landry, however, the difficult night at least came with one small consolation.
Her Instagram post made it clear that while the result was not what she wanted, she was happy with the outfit she chose for one of the biggest games of the season.
The yellow Prada ensemble quickly became a talking point among her followers, with Dunne’s “the fit won” comment summing up the lighthearted side of the post.
LSU will now look to move forward when it hosts Texas A&M on September 26.
Ole Miss, meanwhile, will take its unbeaten record on the road when it travels to Florida.
For Lane Kiffin, the return to Oxford ended with a painful defeat. For Landry, the night provided a memorable game-day experience — and, as she put it herself, at least the outfit was good.
