Meghan Markle has officially parted ways with Netflix regarding her ambitious lifestyle brand, As Ever.
The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly reclaiming “complete control” of her business ventures, ending a high-profile partnership with the $350 billion streaming giant after 12 months of collaboration.

Insiders suggest that the 44-year-old Duchess felt “held back” by Netflix’s “cautious” approach to the retail market.
While the split is described as mutual and amicable, the move marks a significant pivot for the Montecito-based royal as she seeks to transform her boutique American brand into a global household name.
From Streaming Partner to Independent Entrepreneur
When As Ever launched a year ago, Netflix was more than just a platform for Meghan’s content; it was a primary investor and business partner.
The streaming giant provided essential backroom staff, development teams, and infrastructure to help launch the brand’s signature line of jams, rose wines, and flower sprinkles.
At the time of the launch in March 2025, Meghan praised the collaboration, stating: “Netflix came on, not just as my partner in the show, but as my partner in my business, which was huge.”
However, the honeymoon period appears to have cooled.
Sources close to the Duchess indicate that while the partnership was instrumental in the brand’s infancy, the corporate bureaucracy of a global media titan often clashed with the agile needs of a burgeoning lifestyle label.
Meghan is said to be “relieved” to finally “go it alone,” moving the brand’s operations entirely under her own management.
Overcoming Growth Pains and Website Glitches
The first year for As Ever was not without its hurdles. Last year, the brand faced public scrutiny following a technical glitch on its website that made it difficult for customers to complete orders.
Critics questioned the brand’s ability to scale, but sources close to the Duchess tell a different story of overwhelming success.
While As Ever does not publicly release audited sales figures, insiders claim the brand has sold upwards of 870,000 jars of its signature fruit spread.
Despite some food critics describing the product as “runny and too sweet,” the demand has remained consistently high. Best-sellers currently include:
- Flower Sprinkles: $15
- Fruit Spreads: $15
- Artisan Teas: $14
- Scented Candles: $64
Until now, these products were exclusively available to the U.S. market.
With the Netflix partnership dissolved, Meghan’s primary objective is international expansion, with plans already in motion to ship to the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Future of the Sussex-Netflix Relationship
Despite the business split, the personal relationship between the Sussexes and Netflix leadership remains intact.
Meghan reportedly remains on “good terms” with Netflix supremo Ted Sarandos. A source noted, “Meghan hasn’t wanted to upset Ted, but she is very happy to have full control.
It’s a good time for her to lead, given recent successes.”

The broader professional relationship also continues via a ‘first-look’ deal. However, the road has been rocky.
Netflix recently axed Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan after just two seasons following lukewarm reviews.
Furthermore, their film Cookie Queens, which premiered at the Sundance Festival, was notably passed over by the streamer.
The couple also holds the rights to the bestselling book Meet Me at The Lake, a project that has remained in development for over two years without a firm production date.
Official Statements
A spokesperson for As Ever expressed gratitude for the initial support but emphasized the brand’s readiness for independence:
“As ever is grateful for Netflix’s partnership through launch and our first year.
We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth, and As ever is now ready to stand on its own.”
Netflix echoed this sentiment in a supportive statement: “Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments… inspired the creation of the As ever brand.
As it was always intended, Meghan will continue growing the brand and take it into its next chapter independently.”
As Meghan Markle prepares to take As Ever global, the industry will be watching closely to see if the Duchess can maintain her “flying off the shelf” momentum without the backing of a Hollywood powerhouse.
For now, the “Jam Queen” of Montecito seems more than ready to build her empire on her own terms.
