Taylor Swift reportedly went out of her way in 2024 to personally apologize to one of Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates after missing a major life event due to her demanding Eras Tour schedule.
The global pop star’s thoughtful gesture highlighted not only her close ties to Kelce’s inner circle, but also the depth of the friendships she formed after her relationship with the NFL star became public.

According to a report from the Kansas City Star, Swift reached out directly to Clyde Edwards-Helaire and his wife, JoJo, after she was unable to attend their wedding.
The ceremony took place while Swift was performing in Dublin, Ireland, as part of her record-breaking Eras Tour, making it impossible for her to be there in person.
Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in September 2023, and shortly after, Swift formed a close friendship with Edwards-Helaire and JoJo.

Despite her absence at the wedding, Swift made a point of calling the couple personally to explain the situation and apologize, a gesture that reportedly meant a great deal to them.
Adding another layer to the situation, Kelce himself was overseas with Swift at the time. His appearance onstage during Swift’s London shows had stunned fans just a week earlier.
However, Swift insisted that Kelce return to the United States so he could attend the wedding in Louisiana.

Although Edwards-Helaire initially told Kelce that he did not need to fly back, Kelce made it clear that Swift had already arranged it.
“Nah, Taylor’s already sending me. It’s good,” Kelce reportedly told his teammate.
Kelce and Edwards-Helaire have long shared a close bond, both on and off the field. During the summer of 2024, Kelce was one of the players who helped support Edwards-Helaire as he battled post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during Chiefs training camp.

Edwards-Helaire later explained that Swift understood how important that relationship was and why it mattered for Kelce to be present at the wedding.
“It was one of those things where she understood the relationship,” Edwards-Helaire said. “She knows where everything stands.”
Edwards-Helaire has previously spoken openly about his struggles with PTSD, which at one point became so severe that he required hospitalization.
While he has never publicly disclosed every detail, he has acknowledged that a 2018 incident played a significant role.
During what he described as a “self-defense situation,” an 18-year-old man attempted to rob Edwards-Helaire and a friend at gunpoint.

The man was fatally shot, though authorities never revealed who fired the weapon.
In August 2024, Edwards-Helaire spoke candidly about how the trauma affected him mentally and emotionally, noting that teammates like Kelce could often sense when something was wrong before he said anything.
Beyond the wedding apology, the report also revealed that Swift checked in on Edwards-Helaire during the aftermath of the 2024 shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade.

Swift was performing in Australia at the time, and Kelce had given his phone to Edwards-Helaire during the chaos, preventing Swift from reaching him directly. She later contacted Edwards-Helaire to confirm that Kelce was safe.
Although Edwards-Helaire now plays for the New Orleans Saints, his friendship with Kelce and Swift has endured.

He is reportedly invited to their upcoming wedding, which is expected to take place later this year.
Meanwhile, Kelce, now 36, is contemplating retirement following a disappointing season for the Chiefs. While the team struggled, Kelce’s individual performance remained strong, finishing the season with 76 receptions, 851 yards, and five touchdowns.
Speaking on his New Heights podcast, Kelce admitted he is still weighing his future in the NFL, noting that his love for the game remains strong.
As Swift continues her global tour and Kelce considers his next move, moments like these offer a rare glimpse into the personal connections behind one of the most talked-about celebrity relationships in recent years.
