Lindsey Vonn made a stylish appearance at the US Open months after undergoing eight surgeries following her devastating Olympic ski crash.

Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn made a striking appearance at the US Open as she continues her difficult recovery from the devastating ski crash that left her with severe injuries earlier this year.

The 41-year-old skiing legend arrived at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens, on Sunday, turning heads with her elegant appearance and showing remarkably little visible evidence of the extensive surgery she has undergone.

Vonn stepped out in a form-fitting, sleeveless olive-green dress that highlighted her athletic figure.

A small opening along the side of the dress offered a glimpse of her surgically repaired left leg. Only a small amount of medical tape could be seen around her calf and knee.

The appearance offered another indication of how far Vonn has come since the horrific accident.

The former World Cup champion has endured an exceptionally difficult rehabilitation process after suffering catastrophic injuries during the women’s downhill competition at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

Despite the severity of her injuries, Vonn has continued to remain active and has not completely ruled out the possibility of returning to competitive skiing.

Her appearance at the US Open also showed that she is gradually getting back to some of the public activities she enjoyed before her accident.

On Sunday, Vonn was in the stands to watch fourth-seeded Novak Djokovic take on Argentina’s Mariano Navone.

The tennis tournament has been a familiar destination for Vonn over the years.

She has previously attended the US Open with former partners, including businessman Diego Osorio and former NHL star P.K. Subban.

Vonn also has a friendship with Polish tennis star Iga Świątek.

The American athlete has previously spoken warmly about her relationship with the former world No. 1 and revealed that the two first connected several years ago.

“I met Iga a few years ago and we hit it off right away,” Vonn told Polish sports publication Przegląd Sportowy Onet.

According to Vonn, Świątek had already been familiar with her work before they met in person.

“She told me that she really liked my book,” Vonn said, explaining that they had developed a friendship online before eventually meeting face-to-face.

Vonn described Świątek as an “incredibly warm person” and said it had been a pleasure getting to know her better over the years.

She also said she hoped to see Świątek at the US Open and promised to cheer her on.

While Vonn looked poised and confident at the tennis tournament, her road to recovery remains far from complete.

The former Olympic champion suffered the devastating accident on February 8 during the women’s downhill race in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

She was already dealing with a serious knee problem at the time.

Vonn had been competing with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, an injury she sustained in another crash while preparing for the Games.

She nevertheless decided to compete in an effort to secure another Olympic medal.

The second accident proved dramatically more serious.

Vonn suffered extensive damage to her left leg and subsequently required eight surgeries to repair the injuries.

The severity of the trauma was so extreme that reports indicated doctors were initially concerned about whether the limb could be saved.

Despite the frightening circumstances, Vonn has continued to focus on rehabilitation.

Her recovery has been slow and demanding.

Speaking on the red carpet at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles last month, Vonn acknowledged just how difficult the process had been.

“It’s been a very slow process,” she said, explaining that she had only recently been able to return to the gym in a meaningful way.

She also admitted that simply walking remained difficult.

The comments highlighted the enormous physical challenge behind the polished public appearances she has made in recent weeks.

Vonn has nevertheless continued to share glimpses of her life away from rehabilitation.

Last month, she posted a series of photographs from what appeared to be a summer getaway in the French Riviera.

The images showed that she was still determined to enjoy an active lifestyle despite her injuries.

In one photograph, Vonn appeared to be enjoying herself on a paddleboard while displaying her trademark athletic physique.

Another image showed her wearing a helmet and life jacket as she prepared for another water-based activity.

She captioned the collection simply: “Been on the move…”

The photographs offered fans an encouraging look at her progress.

Vonn’s determination has also fueled speculation about what could come next for her skiing career.

Although she has not committed to another comeback, she has repeatedly left the door open to the possibility.

In recent months, she has been romantically linked to French alpine skier Matthieu Bailet.

They were also reportedly seen shopping in SoHo and traveling on the subway during the same week Vonn attended the Met Gala.

Neither Vonn nor Bailet has publicly confirmed the nature of their relationship.

For now, however, Vonn appears focused primarily on her recovery and returning to the active lifestyle that has long been central to her identity.
