Insiders reveal why Ana De Armas chose to end her relationship with Tom Cruise despite their strong chemistry.
The whirlwind romance between Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise has reportedly come to an end after less than a year of dating, with sources claiming the Ballerina actress grew “uncomfortable” with how quickly the relationship was moving.
According to Us Weekly, the split was “Ana’s decision”, despite the pair sharing what insiders described as “undeniable chemistry.”
The 37-year-old Knives Out star allegedly decided to “put the brakes on” after realizing things were moving too fast.

“Things were moving fast and she started to get a little uncomfortable with how quickly it was going,” a source told the outlet. “She still likes Tom a lot, but she needed to take a step back.”
The insider added that while their connection remains strong, “Tom and Ana are done for now. They want to remain friends.”
The couple first sparked romance rumors in February 2025, when they were spotted spending time together in London on Valentine’s Day. Reports suggested their connection began while filming their upcoming thriller Deeper, where they trained side by side for demanding underwater scenes.
“It started as deep professional respect and then it ignited,” a source shared. “Tom was completely captivated by Ana.”
Throughout their time together, Cruise was said to be supportive and encouraging of de Armas’s work, with one insider describing him as “fun to be with” and “very attentive.”
However, the dynamic reportedly shifted as Cruise, 63, pushed for a deeper commitment. “Ana enjoyed his company and admired his dedication, but she wasn’t ready to match his pace,” the insider explained.

Following reports of their breakup earlier this month, The Daily Mail added that the two stars “realized they should keep it professional” to protect their working relationship and preserve their friendship.
“Like any good movie, it all comes to an end — and that was the case for Tom and Ana,” the outlet reported.
Representatives for both Cruise and de Armas have not publicly commented on the split.
Cruise, one of Hollywood’s most enduring leading men, has been married three times — to Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman, and Katie Holmes — and has often kept his romantic life under wraps in recent years.

De Armas, meanwhile, has her own history of high-profile relationships. She was previously married to Spanish actor Marc Clotet, whom she divorced in 2013, and later dated Ben Affleck in 2020 during the pandemic.
More recently, she was romantically linked to Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Despite their breakup, both actors remain focused on their careers. Cruise continues to film installments of his blockbuster Mission: Impossible franchise, while de Armas is promoting her upcoming action thriller Ballerina — a spin-off of the John Wick series — which has already generated major buzz.

Though their romance may have ended, insiders suggest there’s no bad blood between the two. “They have a connection,” one source shared. “They’ll see how things go in the future, but for now, Ana just needed space.”
